Mission

The mission of the White Salmon Valley Education Foundation is to enrich the education of PK–12 students in the White Salmon Valley public schools. The Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the quality of public education within our community by creating a stable source of supplemental funding for curriculum enhancement, modernization, and innovation in our schools, and investment in our teachers.

WSVEF invests $40,000 of community-raised funds annually into grants for White Salmon's schools and teachers, while also writing successful external grant applications that have brought in more than $6.4 million for the district — a 50-to-1 return on investment. At least 25% of every donation goes to the WSVEF endowment fund, ensuring continued support of schools into the future.

Program Overview

WSVEF supports the White Salmon Valley school district through two complementary channels: direct community-funded grants, and external grant writing on behalf of the district.

Direct Giving

Each year, WSVEF invests $40,000 of community-raised funds directly into grants for White Salmon''s schools and teachers. These grants provide tools, training, and enhancements across every grade level and subject area. Beginning in 2026, the annual grant fund will be dedicated to supporting AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) — beginning at Columbia High School and gradually expanding to every grade level throughout the district. AVID focuses on college readiness, helping students with writing, organization, and collaboration skills.

External Grant Writing

WSVEF''s grant-writing efforts on behalf of the district have brought in more than $6.4 million in external grant funds — a 50-to-1 return on investment. Grants funded after-school programs, technology, professional development, field trips, outdoor schools, robotics, musical instruments, and much more.
