Program Overview

The Next Door began serving young people in 1971 when concerned citizens in Hood River worked to open a group home for at-risk youth. We soon realized that the problems they struggled with could often be prevented. In response, TNDI began developing prevention initiatives and soon became the largest non-profit social service provider in the mid-Columbia Gorge region. Today, The Next Door has 35+ programs that serve over 13,000 people in a seven-county region throughout the Gorge.

Giving Opportunities

When the world around us feels heavy, the biggest difference we can make is right here at home. By giving locally to The Next Door, you're supporting kids in our schools, tribal families along the river, farmworkers in our orchards, Latino entrepreneurs, families with young children, youth in need of a safe environment, foster parents, the LGBTQ+ community, and the people who give their heart and time every day to serve others. Your gift doesn't have to be big to matter — when we all give what we can, it adds up to real, lasting change.
