Sherman County 4-H is a positive youth development program that offers traditional club based programming to Sherman youth aged 9-19 with emphasis on livestock projects: beef, sheep, swine, goat, horse, poultry, rabbits. Other 4-H clubs include baking/cooking, outdoor cooking, sewing and quilting, and leadership/camp counselor training. Sherman Extension partners with Sherman County School to provide programming for their SKORE afterschool program, and offers a variety of vacation and/or summer day camps on topics such as natural resources and outdoor education, food preservation, 4-H record book preparation, art and food around the world, the science of super heroes, pirate camp and more.
Over the years, Sherman 4-H has consistently enrolled over one-third of the eligible students in the Sherman County school district, and is extremely well-supported by the community as shown by the number of volunteers, award and buckle sponsors, camp scholarship sponsors, auction buyers, and financial support from the Sherman County Court, Sherman County Prevention, Sherman County Educational Foundation and Sherman County Soil & Water Conservation District.
