Hood River County Education Foundation

Scholarships, teaching grants, and educational opportunities for every Hood River County student.

Program Overview

HRCEF believes that education is the foundation to lifelong success. Through our programs, we aim to support students from their first day in kindergarten through the completion of their post-secondary education.

Scholarships

The foundation manages over 55 grantor-based scholarship funds for Hood River Valley High School seniors and graduates pursuing two-year, four-year, or vocational degrees. The Board of Directors Scholarship — funded entirely through community donations and fundraising events — awards scholarships to over 20 HRV seniors and alumni each year.

Impact Teaching Grants

HRCEF offers teaching grants to staff and educators in all district schools. These grants fund innovative classroom projects and materials not covered by the district budget, helping teachers bring creative, hands-on learning experiences to their students.

Opportunity Fund

The Opportunity Fund expands access to co-curricular and extra-curricular programs for students and families facing financial and other barriers. The fund currently supports need-based after-school care, athletic and music program fee waivers for middle school students, science and arts programming, and a 529 college savings plan for kindergartners.

Giving Opportunities

Your support helps HRCEF fund scholarships, teaching grants, and educational opportunities that help every student thrive.

Individual & Business Donations

Every contribution makes a difference for our schools. You can make one-time or recurring donations online at hrcef.org, mail a check, gift stocks, or contribute through a donor-advised fund. Donations are tax-deductible, and donors may choose to support a specific initiative: Where it's Needed Most, Scholarships, Teaching Grants, Opportunity Fund, or Music in the Schools.

Corporate Giving

Businesses play a vital role in our success. HRCEF is happy to provide information for payroll deductions, or to help your company set up a matching donation program or employee giving campaign.

Fundraising Events

Join our annual events, including the Gorge Wine Festival, E-Bike raffle, and concert. All event proceeds support HRCEF programs. Contact us to learn more about volunteering, attending, or sponsoring an event.

Start a Scholarship

Scholarships provide individuals, families, or organizations the opportunity to directly support students. Scholarship funds are an excellent way to honor a loved one, and HRCEF can work with you to design a scholarship that reflects your values and helps students achieve their educational goals.

Estate & Planned Giving

Planned gifts — such as bequests, trusts, or beneficiary designations — can help ensure educational opportunities for students for years to come. Legacy gifts can be designated for existing programs or funds, or used to create new opportunities. Please contact us for more information on implementing your legacy vision.
