Hood River County Library Foundation

Raising funds and community support to ensure vibrant libraries in Hood River County.

Program Overview

Guided by a volunteer board, the Foundation works closely with the Hood River County Library District to identify priority needs and direct community funding to where it has the greatest impact. The Friends of the Library — a separate sister organization — has supported the libraries since 1977 through volunteer effort and program funding.

What the Foundation funds

Through donations, memberships, grants, and the annual Feast of Words fundraiser, the Foundation provides funds to the Library District each year to support programs, technology, the bookmobile, Maker Space materials, and capital improvements. The Foundation also funds free books, digital resources, and facility upgrades.

Friends of the Library

The Friends have supported the Hood River libraries since 1977. Their volunteer effort is one of their biggest impacts — and they financially support the Summer Reading program, Hood River Reads, and the Pat Hazlehurst Endowment Fund (which contributes to library programming for all ages).
